The second part of our strawberry picking day was a trip to Jinxi Watertown. We just wandered around the area, happy to follow people who knew where they are going and who speak Chinese.

We started off trying “fruit roll up popsicles,” at least that’s what we named them. They were delicious but so full of sugar they were hard to finish. After that, we ran into some ladies making sesame flatbread. One minute I’m outside videoing them and the next minute Helene is walking inside the door of the shop. They had told her to come in and see, so of course, I pushed my little self right in there with them. I could have stayed there for a couple of hours taking pictures and making them teach me how to make the tasty snack. Alas, it wasn’t in the cards for me that day. Maybe next time. I know where they are.

Jinxi Watertown is such a beautiful place and there are so many everyday moments to capture. There were lots of people out with their cameras shooting everyday life. I can’t wait to go back and spend a whole day wandering around. We even found a little hotel hidden down one of the streets… may have to check it out…

We had to find a boat and ride it #bucketlist and it was THE BEST. Even in the cold. Even without lotus flowers blooming in the water. It was so serene and calm floating along the river. Our rower was so sweet. She sang songs to us and told us about important bridges we passed under.

With school and traveling home for the holidays, it has been a while since I have been able to get out and just wander around and discover places around me. This day was full of new treats, new sites, and new friends. We got dirty, we played, and we made memories. I really needed this day.
